bridging with marching

Bridge with Marching

-Lie on your back & position your low back in neutral.

-With both feet on the ground, lift your hips off the floor while maintaining neutral.

-Your shoulders should NOT be elevated!

-Now lift one leg off the floor while maintaining neutral.

-Hips remain level when you remove leg off floor.

-Repeat with other leg in an alternating fashion.

NOTE: If this is too difficult or causes pain, try weight shifting (i.e., place a certain percentage of your weight on one foot [i.e., 60% on right foot, 40% on left foot] for a few seconds then reverse the shift [60% on left foot, 40% on right foot]).

Competency Criteria

-Client is able to lift hips up symmetrically (and keep them up) without any pain in low back.

-Client is able to lift/march each leg off the floor while maintaining symmetrical hips (i.e., one hip doesn’t drop).
